The Wizard is an Australian blue water cruiser racer yacht with a fractional rig built in 1992.The Wizard is build number 82 out of 120 Northshore 38’s built.

The Wizard is just shy of 12m in length with a beam of 3.38m and a draft of 2m. The internal layout is well designed starting with a forward V berth cabin, bathroom (head) with a wet area shower. The saloon area is spacious with a sofa where four adults would comfortably sit and a.teak up and down dining table to accommodate six adults. The quarter berth is on the starboard side with engine access under the companionway stairs.

The U-shaped galley has a single sink, filtered fresh water with hot and cold mains tap, gimballed two burner gas stove with grill and oven. A deep fridge and separate freezer running on 12volt compressors. There is ample storage under the sink for pots and pans and cleaning materials. Outboard on portside are cupboards with slider doors offering ample storage for crockery, cutlery and condiments. Below the gas stove is a storage locker suitable for keeping bottled drinks cool.

The engine is a Volvo Penta 28 hp diesel that drives a sail drive which has a folding three-blade propeller and at 2000 revs a burn rate of around 2 litres per hour. The engine is freshwater cooled and has just a tad over 3000 hours on the clock. When I bought The Wizard, there was a eutectic fridge system attached to the motor. I had this removed during the fridge/freezer up grade.

During the 2018 refit, I had B&G electronics installed including 4G radar, forward scan sonar, along with depth/temperature/speed DTS and 400 watts of enerdrive solar panels including the stainless arch over the bimini. For onboard sound, I opted for the fusion system.

During 2021 I had the running and standard rigging replaced along with new canvas work

Ground tackle involves an Arco Windless with 55m of 8mm chain and a New Zealand Manson Anchor.

I am the proud second owner of The Wizard and enjoy sailing extensively on Lake Macquarie New.South Wales Australia.

I have plans of coastal sailing and then to fulfill my dream sail to Lord Howe Island before sailing to countries north of Australia.
